Venkat Subramaniam rarely needs an introduction, as he is one of the most well known presenters on the conference scene. Venkat has been known to travel several loops around the world in just a few hours, as well as fit over 40 one hour sessions into a regular conference day. We caught up with Venkat, the conference magician and phenomenon, in a short interview. Incidentally, Venkat will also be giving a session on the virtualJUG later in the year, so keep an eye out for that as well.
SM: Hey Venkat, Have you ever been to Estonia/Tallinn before? If yes, What were your memories? If No, what are your expectations?
VS: No, first time, but I’ve been told there are some really smart and passionate developers there and I’m eager to meet and interact with them.
SM: What sessions are you giving at GeekOut and what are they about?
VS: One on Java 8 language capabilities and the other on Reactive Programming. Java 8 brings a huge paradigm shift and we will learn about the benefits this provides to the developers in the first one. Functional style combined with a few other patterns and practices lead to a powerful combination of solutions to create highly responsive apps as we will explore in the Reactive programming session.
SM: What sessions are you looking forward to attend?
VS: I plan to sit in as many talks as possible and to interact and learn from others. There are quite a number of very interesting topics and I plan to wait until the last responsible moment to decide which ones I will attend. :)
SM: What made you select GeekOut as a conference to attend/speak at?
VS: I consider this a great opportunity and privilege to interact with so many bright minds in our field who will gather at this event. I am really looking forward to the event.
