ZeroTurnaround is fresh back from Antwerp, where we sent our crew to Devoxx Antwerp 2012 and brought bloody shirts, reports and showed demos. As usual we gave away tons of free product licences and a few hundred of our popular printed reports from RebelLabs (Developer Productivity Report 2012, Pragmatic Continuous Delivery).
We had lot of booth traffic as usual and had chance to chat with our friend Patrick Debois, our future “partner in crime” in the world of DevOps and had time to catch up with Kirk Pepperdine, Martijn Verburg, Ben Evans.
We discussed how development and operation teams interact and asked attendees how important their companies, from an organizational view, view this relationship on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being “Very Important”). The average score was 6.1 points out of 10, with a standard deviation of 2.2 points. Meaning = there is a long way to go before “DevOps Harmony” is achieved ;-)
We introduced our bloody shirts at JavaOne for the first time and as they were so popular we brought them over to Devoxx and got at least 20 attendees to strip off and put them on at our booth. Good job it wasnt cold in there!
There was some good Twitter action going on as well:
@mchataigner “Visiting #jrebel booth at #devoxx – never regretted to buy it!”
@gsudharsan “Just saw a live demo of #jrebel at #devoxx, looks pretty cool!”
JRebel was so appealing that one attendee bought Enterprise licences for his whole team during the event (and got a nice discount!) :)
In the end it was a great time and we are looking forward to seeing what is coming with Devoxx UK 2013!
