Geeking Out at the Geekiest Conference this side of Planet-Geek!

The geekiest JVM technology conference, GeekOutEE was held for the fifth year in Tallinn, Estonia in early June.  The two day conference was sold out three months in advance with over 100 people on the waiting list and a 99% attendance rate. It’s a no brainer why 430 attendees from 15 countries ventured to this conference- the speaker line up was top notch with industry experts from 10 countries and 18 sessions over 2 tracks.

On top of that, almost every break between the sessions was filled with live demo sessions on the expo floor or a Nighthacking interview with Stephen Chin on the Nighthacking stage.

In true ZeroTurnaround fashion along with co-host Coverity and Transferwise attendees enjoyed a kickass party that went into the wee hours of the morning.  The party offered RebelAle, street food and live entertainment by James Wertz and DJ Ziggy.

If you were not able to attend have no fear, you can watch all the talks here.  We have BIG plans for next year’s GeekOut be sure to follow us on Twitter for updates throughout the year.

We know that whatever else the organizers provide at the conference, however delicious the lunch, however swift and solid the wifi is, the main attraction of any conference is the speakers and what sessions they deliver.

The top five rated talks voted by attendees in no particular order are:

In between talks Atlassian gave out ice cream to attendees on the expo floor!

In the evening, a beer tasting competition took place at the GeekOut party where the homebrew by the ZeroTurnaround Tallinn team took the win – even beating the famous Rebel Ale.

Charles Oliver Nutter presenting “Fast as C: How to write really terrible Java” to a full audience.
