EclipseCon Toulouse 2013: Java, geeks and smelly cheese

ZeroTurnaround team visited the French edition of EclipseCon in Toulouse, the wine and smelly cheese region of France (then again, where isn’t?)

We introduced JRebel to hundreds of developers hungry to put an end to redeploys. Some folks were talking about the misery of their 10 – 15min restart times and were very excited to see how JRebel solves this problem.

Airbus manufacturer hub is located in Toulouse so we got to meet some of their engineers and chat about what’s painful for them in development and operations.

We awarded the famous Nixon watch to Pat Huff, who promised to not only use it to see how much time he is saving by using JRebel, but also that he’ll start with some extreme sports soon–as this watch is designed for adventure-minded people.

We were pleased that the expected language barrier wasn’t an issue in the end. We had great conversations, met a good crowd and enjoyed lovely catering during lunches and coffee times.

After expo hours we had a chance to explore the beautiful city of Toulouse and see the town centre, try local food (lots of smelly cheese and pastries!) and wine and even practice our French!

Next up for ZeroTurnaround is Velocity Santa Clara and DevOps Days Mountain View… so watch out for bloody t-shirts!
